There has been so much talk about crossplay and whether Microsoft and Sony will ever come to an agreement where Xbox players can go up against Playstation gamers. The talk occurs every year but there is something circulating in the media right now that’s particularly interesting. Microsoft has confirmed that it “is talking with Sony” regarding bringing cross-play to both platforms.
Following this, At Aaron Greenberg, head of marketing at Xbox, told GameReactor that Microsoft still hasn’t given up on the idea and that talks with Sony are ongoing, so this is very much one sided, and it’s going to be interesting to see if Sony decides it is for the best to keep things as they are or opt for the change. There’s no doubt that there will be more to come on this over the coming months, but the reality is this could be fantasy, or at best many years away, but more people believe that cross-play will happen at some stage, it is just a matter of when.
Farpoint is a fairly ordinary first person shooter game that really comes to life because of its virtual reality. The aim controller provides the feel of a real gun and the shooting is quite satisfying once you get going. The 360 degree sound capabilities are so good that you can even pinpoint enemy locations by sound alone.
The experience of oversized arachnids coming at you is quite terrifying and exhilarating. The adrenaline rush is second to none and makes the game fun and addictive and is its major selling point.
The plot is quite straightforward and thin as it taps into the exhausted narrative of people up against aliens and has just a single boss fight.
Farpoint falls short of expectations and is honestly a miss by Sony. However, it serves for a truly immersing VR experience and is, therefore, a game worth taking a look at given VR is still a new concept to gaming.
One game plenty of people are getting excited about is Marvel Spider-Man which is set to be released in 2018, though no exact date has been confirmed as yet.
So what can we expect this time?
Well like all previous Spiderman games, you’re going to get fast paced action and plenty of characters you’ve grown to love and despise, but this one could be the best yet. If the gameplay trailer is anything to go by, then the visuals look absolutely stunning. It’s no wonder why really as this is a 4K game, but at times you’ll feel like you’re Spiderman from the Hollywood movie and not the PS4. As stated by Marvel Games’ Creative Director Bill Rosemann, the game is set to tell original stories, taking this classic back to its roots. This will no doubt bring some of the hardcore Spiderman fans back, and we’re certainly expecting big things for this modern classic.
Rayman is up there with Sonic and Mario when it comes to retro gaming, and you’ll be pleased to know that you can now play a modern version on the PS4 and Xbox One. This version is just right for families as it has funky sound effects, addictive missions and the classic gameplay presented with a modern twist while there are also many of the characters that you’ve come to love over the years.
In this game you can collect different characters and items throughout the game, which makes it very easy to play over and over again, and it’s always a nice feeling when you unlock new elements. Rayman Legends isn’t new on the scene by any means, but it’s still one of the best family games that you can buy. This really is the type of adventure game you can play with your son, mum or grandmother and we do recommend you give it a try, especially now while it’s available at a very reduced price.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been shaped by Koji Igarashii and developed by a well-known company Inti Creates.
The storyline takes place towards the end of the 1700s; a couple of decades after the Industrial Revolution began. It is during this time that several alchemists thought they should warn people that they may lose their faith and they thought it would be a good idea to place some demons onto the earth. An orphan girl is transfixed by the ‘magical crystals’ that bring the demons down to the earth but she becomes so transfixed that the demons cannot use her as a sacrifice.
Then 10 years later, the orphan girl returns to her normal state and comes out of the castle where she remained for that period. You of course, play as the orphan and must learn how to escape the castle, which isn’t going to be easy! This intriguing game is part of a series called Konami’s Castlevania and was originally set to be released on the 11th of May in 2015. But this was delayed and it has been put forward until sometime early 2018. Let’s hope there are no further delays!
For Honor is an aggressive third-person fight game that combines group play, speed and attack with close range combat. Instilling fear in their enemies, the war born fighters sail across the sea to raid the Southern Coast. They aim to force their rivals out of their lands with passion and fire but the invaders have been driven out by the legions, and those who would not join them have been conquered. This means the heroes have to fight two invasions from the heathens and it really makes for a very interesting storyline.
You can hop into a one-on-one contest with the online multiplayer mode, but take no prisoners because For Honor is all about defeating and punishing your enemies. If by any chance one is lucky to get away, they’ll get thrashed until he or she hits the ground. However, if faced with a specifically brutal rival, then you may end up being broken into two by use of a huge club, so do pick your enemies wisely and don’t start fights you can’t finish.
For Honor focuses on online play and that’s why most people buy this game, because the difficult fight tactics vary across the Samurai, Vikings, and Knights with differences coming from the selected speed of the character, weapons, abilities and combos. What we really love about For Honor is the fact that you get to experience different fighting skills while the story gets wrapped up in a lot of cut scenes and dialogue. There are many memorable moments but one that stays with us when the enemy waves and storms in the settlement only to find they’ve made a big mistake. We hope you take the time to play this game and to get you in the mood feel free to watch the trailer below. This will give you a better idea of gameplay and story.

The Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands works on PC, Xbox one and PS4 platforms and as of now, it does not work on Mac platform. Stardew Valley is a bit of an odd game really; well it’s odd in the sense that it doesn’t feel quite right on the PS4. It has all of the classic PC game credentials so there was no surprise when it was announced to be released on PC, but the simplicity of it means it’s not your standard console game.
So what’s the game all about?
Well, Stardew Valley is a game about farming. I know sounds fun right? No we’re kidding it has more to offer than your typical farming game. From mining and fishing to making friends and falling in love, Stardew Valley’s Pelican Town is stuffed with rewarding opportunities. The way your story begins is quite unique and it can lead you to think about real life, which is always a bonus. Your story begins in the field, cleaning up a neglected and rundown farm. You are hands on at this point, plotting and planning your garden, whilst thinking about the fruits and vegetables you’d like to grow.
As you develop and invest in advanced equipment the questions you ask yourself are slightly different. Such as how can I break down large rocks and stumps that stick out in my garden? And how can I buy and maintain animals to get a larger return from my farm work?
You develop your farming skills and the way you think throughout the game. And it does reflect on real life in many ways. Everyone start of as a helper, before they gain the experience and knowledge to think for themselves. This is true of many trades and farming is no different. If you love a game that’s easy to play with gentle twists and turns along with heaps of problem solving, Stardew Valley is for you! Here’s the trailer:
